the scout / 33

As we approach the end of this grand French adventure, we’re excited to welcome our friends to Paris this weekend. It is their first time visiting the city, so you’ll fine me donning my tour guide chapeau. You’ll find us at the Parisian usual spots but that’s just fine by me — I’m feeling the need to see these things at least once more before we move back to Toronto next month. A list of lovely links for your weekend reading pleasure . . . My favourite chocolate shop in Toronto, SOMA, has won top honours at the International Chocolate Awards (panel judge = dream job, no?) for their dark chocolate bars. I’m terribly…

introducing kate spade home

Have you been following the High Point Market happenings this week? The most exciting launch is, of course, a sneak peek of Kate Spade Home. At once, Kate Spade New York‘s expansion into furniture and home goods is both exciting and not at all surprising — I for one, am thrilled. The brand has been successfully foraying into a full-fledged lifestyle empire over the last few years, making its way into our home via paper goods, china and kitchen accessories, and office accessories so it makes perfect sense that furniture would be the next in line. We translated iconic Kate Spade New York designs like subtle bow accents, as well as signature colours and…

thirty before 30

Autumn is always my favourite time of year . . . but it’s a notion I firmly and repeatedly reject, year after year, while I’m too busy held under summer’s warm and sunny spell. I’m smitten by the freckles it leaves on my nose and shoulders, and romanced by beach days and glasses of rosé. But time and time again, like clockwork, September draws to a close and autumn greets us with its cooler temps and changing leaves — suddenly the summer and I are fair-weather friends. October creeps its way up and there I am, gushing about how lovely the cooler temperatures are . . . how I can’t wait to sit…

home tour: luke edward hall

As you may know, I am now contributing design features to Domino Magazine. Some months ago, I discovered illustrator and designer Luke Edward Hall . . . and was instantly enamoured by his unique sense of style. It sounds a bit simple to say that these days but when you consider his young age, you simply can’t help but be impressed by the maturity and personality present in his work — from his textiles and illustrations to his own home. Luke’s (clearly innate) taste level is something that usually takes decades to cultivate. I reached out to him straight away and got my editor to sign off on an interview and home tour. So…

chanel takes flight

It’s Paris Fashion Week and of course, my favourite show to share is always CHANEL. Karl Lagerfeld has taken us many places with his collections: the supermarket, the casino, and this season — the airport. I often find myself musing about the days of stylish travel and am continually disappointed when boarding an air craft to notice my fellow jet setters dressed down in the most “comfortable” of fashions. Anyhow, I digress . . . and thank Mr. Lagerfeld for making the airport a beautiful place once again.      Images via Vogue.com
