the girl in the blue coat

Pastel outwear is having a moment: we saw this on the fall runways at Prada, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana. Last year, I adored my icy blue topper for many reasons – namely because it added a pop of colour to an otherwise drab season. The winter season is long enough as is here in Toronto so I always find it a bit shocking that everyone goes for the black/gray/navy coat . . . sure it’s practical but I prefer to lighten things up. Wearing a candy coloured coat is a quick way to stand out (and receive many compliments while you’re at it) from the crowd. This winter I opted for J.Crew‘s Melton Toggle…

my favourite winter cocktails

What can I say – I love a good cocktail. Combine that with the holiday season and my love of entertaining . . . I’m a very happy girl. When hosting a group of friends at home, a signature drink is simultaneously a delightful thing to offer and easier to prepare in advance since you can shop for the ingredients ahead of time. In collaboration with fellow stylists (and lovely friends!) Kelly Lynn and Laura, I whipped up a couple of my favourite go-to’s: think classics with a seasonal twist. First up, the winter-y Moscow Mule with pomegranate and ginger. Second, the Old Fashioned with a kick of citrus. The best part of…

caroline sieber’s colourful notting hill home

I cannot get these photos out of my head. Really, truly . . .  I cannot. Caroline Sieber‘s Notting Hill home is utterly perfect! Perfect is a word used a whole lot – sort of tossed around without much consideration, don’t you think? But every once in a while something so special catches your eye . . . and Caroline has style in spades. I’ve been staring at these shots since I saw them in this month’s Vogue. “I had a very strong idea of what I wanted. And I wasn’t that worried about making mistakes, because this is for us, you know? So we went for crazy colours and lots of patterns.” My love…

inside gabrielle ‘coco’ chanel’s apartment

Life is full of all kinds of surprises – my six month stint in Paris was no exception. Just a few days before our adventure was to come to a close, I had the special honour of being invited to receive a private tour of the late Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel‘s rue Cambon apartment. This is something not many people have the opportunity to experience, and so I feel immensely honoured to not only have taken a glimpse into the home of this woman I have admired for years . . . but to also learn more about Coco and her prolific life. As a lover of design, I revel in the details. I…

the scout / 35

Apologies for the silence around here – it’s been quite the week! As you may have read on Instagram, Andrew and I home safe and sound in Toronto. I snapped this photo on Friday, November 13, just hours before the attacks on Paris. We heard the horrific news as we landed, and couldn’t believe our luck. Like everyone, I’ve had a tricky time comprehending what happened – it’s impossible really. But as we must, we move on and keep looking forward in life. We are settling back in Toronto and can’t wait to get into our new home on December 1. Until then, we are continuing our nomadic lifestyle (gosh, I’ve gotten good…
